Farrenheit 451 – Book Cover
For this project we first began with photographing three objects that were symbolic. I chose newspaper, a pair of old boots, and fire. We live out in the country on a farm, so a bonfire was easy. I then began to play around with my photos and decided fire was the most powerful. Next we had to pick a book and design a cover. I ended up choosing Fahrenheit 451.
To quickly summarize Fahrenheit 451 is a book based in the future, where firefighters burn down homes that are found with books in them. Books are believed to be evil, because they make people have contrasting thoughts, and puts ideas in their heads. I have been listening to the audio version, and love it.
So here is how this project played out.
First photos and more photos
Here are some images from my second photo shoot. I shared several photos with friends and my professor for feedback. I decided on the second photo on the top row. I felt Fahrenheit 451 would be a good match, and as I listened I knew Fahrenheit 451 was written about a firefighter who has the number 451 on his helmet, and his job is to burn books and he discovers he might like to read books instead of burning them. So I wanted at least a helmet, but was hoping for both a fire helmet and a fireman. I was so excited to find firefighter John. Who was perfect, and super nice.
I was able to photoshop out the wall and eventually able to switch out his number 166 to the 451 and make it look realistic. I covered him in flames and text.
Here are my first tries.
I loved each one and though it was perfect. As I kept pushing though I kept loving each one and was shocked how each tweak drastically improved my cover.
Here is my final cover.
I did all sorts of tricks and loved learning each and everyone of them. I hope I can remember them for my next project. I loved creating this book cover and I hope you like it.
Let me know what you think.
Okay one last version. I made a few corrections after receiving feedback from my professor. Can you identify the differences? I sure can! I hope you like it, and as always thanks for stopping by.
