about me

drawing of me by Olivia

I call this piece of Art – Me by Olivia. It was given to when she was little, which was a little while ago.

Let me be perfectly honest with you, I’m a Hot Mess – “a person or thing that is spectacularly unsuccessful or disordered, especially one that is a source of peculiar fascination.” – taken from the Oxford Languages – Dictionary. I am in the recovery process, working towards remission, or in essence a more fulfilled life. I have had one plan for my life and well the powers that be always seem to have another. Even at this very minute, it is 12:01 am my bedtime is 10 pm and here I am working on my About Me post.

I have been flying by the seat of my pants for as long as I can remember. In my past life, I worked overnight, full-time, as a night auditor for a hotel, plus part-time during the day as a graphic designer and web content creator for a newspaper as well as being a college student and raising four children. I also have spent a lifetime trying to please everyone, and in most cases, those experiences have left me feeling insignificant and inadequate. During all my adventures I have learned oodles and oodles of lessons on how to simplify, how to maximize my potential, and most importantly I have learned simply that it is okay to be me. I have spent every available second trying to sponge up every ounce of knowledge that would benefit my mere existence. My old life simply was not working. I took an enormous leap and my four children and I started a new life. In all the craziness I learned many simple solutions to help squash the chaos. I invite you to join me on my journey, one full of joy, sadness, fears, temper tantrums, tears, acceptance, guilt, inspiration, depression, anger, dreaminess, denial, and determination, with one ultimate goal, my continued desire to choose not to be miserable, but to seek happiness. My goal is to help others make their life lovely inside and out by sharing my passion for writing, design, and photography along with simple solutions I have learned by simply being me.

I can’t wait for you to join me on my never-ending journey to becoming a better me.
