How to Decorate Cookies Like a Pro: 3 Pro Tips from Katie Branson for Perfectly Decorated Delectables
I am super excited to share with you on National Cookie Day my friend Katie’s top 3 tips to decorate the perfect cookie! Katie went to school to be a Graphic Designer and was working as a designer, but when her company decided to go digital Katie switched to the bakery and began designing scrumptious treats instead. Now Katie runs her own freelance decorating business in Branson, Mo. Katie was super generous to share with us her favorite 3 tips.
1. Do not bake them to the time the recipe says! Bake them for about 3 minutes under (sugar cookies).
2. When using buttercream icing, you can use a Viva Signature Cloth paper towel to smooth it after it sits for about a minute. (The purple and green ones, they look like this and are so soft!)
3. Use gel food coloring from Hobby Lobby or Amazon to make icing the true colors you want and kit the 4pk of colors you buy from the grocery store. Those only make pastel colors.
I am adding a bonus 4th tip! Katie purchases her yummy buttercream frosting from her local supermarket bakery. She says it is more cost-efficient and she strictly uses buttercream frosting.
Katie owns Take the Cake & Cookies LLC and you can find her mad decorating skills on Facebook!
P.S. I just asked and Katie says she averages around 50 dozen cookies and 15 cakes/ cupcake orders per week!
Here are a few of my favorites of Katie’s. Don’t forget to peek at what Katie has been up to on FaceBook @ Take the Cake and Cookies LLC it is honestly my favorite part of the week! 😎
