ErinRasmussen – Business Card

Hi I’m Erin!

I am a Web Design and Development student at BYUI. We were assigned to design a business card with type only. The process began with twenty-four sketches by hand with pencil and paper. Then we turned those designs into digital sketches and picked our favorite top three. From there we refined and eventually chose our top design and added color. We were then asked to make our design print ready and do a digital mock up (pictured above).

This was a very fun and tiring process for me. I learned to pay close attention to details. I thought I was and had everything completed, only to realize my zip code was missing. I had challenges finding the perfect mock up, and learned I needed a simple design where my card was the main focus.

I was wanting a simple, yet sophisticated card. I wanted it to be clutter free and fun. When I first heard of all the info that needed placed on my card I thought no way, it won’t all fit. After trial and error, and oodles of patience I was able to make it work. I was able to use hierarchy and enlarge and highlight fonts simply through font choice, size and color.

I needed my card to let those who come in contact with it know who I am, what I do and how to get a hold of me. I feel my goal was accomplished.
